1973: City Discontinues First Calls to County Residents

December 26, 1973

In 1973 the Evansville Fire Department decided to stop making first due calls to any residents not living within the city limits. This left much of the north side of Evansville left to be covered by Scott and McCutchanville. McCutchanville stepped up and decided to take this opportunity up and make this part of their first due. Over the course of the next 10 years, 5 more apparatus were purchased to meet the higher demand for service.
